Earth is a mysterious place yet one that has a lot to offer. In order to discover these many offerings, there are individuals such as Geophysical consultants who research and survey different areas. In doing so, one of the main aspects of the jobs is detection and analysis of seismic, electric and magnetic gravitational activity.

In most cases, these consultants work in the field to collect a variety of data which can often determine if an area is prone to earthquakes or if the ground is too volatile for various builds. After which, the data is used for studies to determine whether or not land is appropriate for different type of activities. While there are those whom work to determine whether or not there may be oil or gas deposits underground, others work to assure stability before beginning construction projects.

While archaeologists work to find ancient artifacts, these individuals work in areas of geology, archeology, oil and gas exploration and marine biology to discover how various aspects effect the earth. While this is the case, there is also a great deal of academic research and surveying which takes place closer to home.

Tools used in the process of surveying various areas include gravimeters, wave sensors, magnet meters and others as needed. The data collected with these instruments is then analyzed to determine current conditions as related to a proposed project. In addition, these individuals also report on the time-frequency and spectral density as related to seismic, wave and other aspects in the field.

When working with seismic data, there are a number processes which are used in this area. These include, magnetic techniques, gravity techniques, geodesy, borehole geophysics and remote sensing. While these methods are primarily used in seismic studies, there are also other areas such as wave and orbital technologies in which these methods are also beneficial.

Individuals not familiar with geophysical technologies often want to know more about the process. Basically, consultants review and survey gravitational fields which show essential information related to seismic activities under land, under water as well as orbital activities which may have an effect to the surface of the earth. In doing so, the surveyors receive information that is extremely critical about magnetic and electric fields. After which, the information is relayed back to a company or individual for further research and development.

While many electromagnetic and gravitational forces and waves provide signals with many different aspects, these forces provide a better understanding with regards to activities found in the core of the earth. As there are so many different tools and instruments used in the industry, it can often take several passes before an individual can determine which tool to use for the best results.

While referred to as consultants, these individuals are often direct-hires whom work for a specific company. When this is the case, there can often be world-wide travel. Although, there are some cases in which individuals may be hired on a long-term contract. If and working on a contract basis, most work on a local level though it should be noted that as contracts can be extended or canceled at any time, contract work is not always as secure as working in a full time consultant.
