The University of Tennessee offers jobs for students who are interested in working on campus. If you are an undergraduate at the University, you can work on campus through several ways. Firstly, you should look for a paid internship on campus. Paid internships on campus can be good part-time UTK jobs for students.

The next question people ask is should they get paid minimum wage as a student worker. The answer to that is yes. You are entitled to be paid minimum wage if you are doing paid work on campus. There only exceptions are those who volunteer or are completing a work placement as part of their course of study. Sometimes people wonder if they will need to pay taxes on their part-time or student wages.

When looking for a position, you should try to find one that is related to your field of study. Some examples of positions on campus are personal trainers, administrative work, teaching assistants, and tutoring. If you are planning a career in any of these industries, this may be a good chance for you to get experience.

The University can deduct taxes from your wages at the outset; however, this can be claimed back as a refund at the end of the tax year. This will only apply if you earned less than the limit. Contact the IRS or the University Human Resources office for more specifics on what the allowed tax-free limit is, as this may change from year to year.

Many undergraduates ask if they are entitled to holiday pay as part-time workers. Yes, they are, but students cannot receive the full statutory minimum that full time workers get, which is four weeks every year. However, you can receive a pro-rated amount of paid time off; in particular if you are working two days a week, you will be entitled to eight days a year.

If you are not working normal work hours, then a week of pay will equal the average weekly pay of a twelve-week period. This will include any overtime you have worked. You might have to accrue your holiday over a certain period of time before you will be allowed to take it.

Temping is also a way for you to land a full time job. While you are temping, you can be networking with various individual in your field. Temping for a few weeks or months allows you to have a chance to win over your boss and show him or her that you are a good worker and a good fit for the company.

You may also want to consider freelance work as a means of making money. Students can build up their experience to boost their resume with projects before they graduate. Choose an area that you are good at or that is related to your studies. Freelancing normally does not take up a lot of your schedule, so you can earn money without extensive commitment to a job.
