Organizations, both big and small, are all struggling in the tough economic climate. Although many people would like to contribute, they have too many financial demands already. This means that the small amount of money available is spread very thin. In order to continue most groups have to become a little more creative in how they generate funds.

Those who run the charity or group must stay flexible and be willing to try new things. One of the most tried and trusted ways to boost funds is by having a discount card fundraiser. This method has been around for many years and is well known and easily recognized.

The reason that the cards have proved so popular for many years is that they save people money. For a set amount paid up front they can go on to enjoy far more in savings. In fact, with most programs the saving can amount to several hundred dollars. Shoppers can use their discounts at many stores and really get some great deals.

For safety reasons children can never be sent door to door without a responsible adult staying with them at all times. This will mean that parents and other family members must be willing to help out. The more motivated adults join in, the better the end result of the efforts. After all the more money that is raised the more the group can have to offer.

The cards are basically available in two main types. One is a card that offers multiple discounts to the same business or service. For example, this can be twenty percent off admission prices for a year. The other type of cards offer one time discounts to a number of different local and national stores. Each year the terms and conditions vary and this should be explained to the customer.

One of the most important things for any group or charity to understand is marketing. The more they learn about effective marketing the more money they will earn. In addition, they can also build up a client base and canvas repeat customers year after year.

Other cards work differently. They are more of a book format and have one time offers to a variety of local businesses. Many people love to buy these books for personal use as they know they can save a lot of money. It is very important that those involved in sales know all about the savings. This enables them to answer questions and interact with their customers in a knowledgeable way.

Good preparation is the key to a successful fund raising event. The organizers should hold meeting to ensure that all their members are knowledgeable about the cards they are selling. The public is much more likely to buy something when they can see tangible benefits to themselves. They also feel more comfortable working with someone who is clearly well informed and helpful. With this in mind it is essential that children and teenagers work with a responsible adult.
