If you are an entrepreneur just starting out, your first order of business is to get customers. To do that you will have to set up a website, create marketing materials, set up appointments, and get out and sell yourself. That's a tall order for one person. If you don't have enough work to justify hiring a full time employee, or the money to pay one, you should consider a virtual administrative assistant Georgia entrepreneurs have found useful.

This is a way to save time and money. You will find a number of websites advertising the services of job specific, temporary, independent contractors. This is a good place to start your search. Before you commit to a person though, you must be sure the company you are dealing with is legitimate.

It's important to read the reviews and do some independent research as well. Your best bet would be to find a friend or colleague who has dealt with virtual assistants in the past. They may direct you immediately to a great agency where you can choose the help that seems to suit you best.

Hiring an independent contractor has a lot of advantages. For one thing, you don't have to have an office to accommodate this person. This works especially well if you are working out of your house, or mostly from your car. You won't have to worry about buying a lot of office equipment and computer paraphernalia for an employee. It won't be necessary to go to the expense of buying extra cell phones or office supplies.

Employees require all kinds of paperwork. With a virtual assistant you don't have the time consuming task of quarterly tax forms or figuring out how to deduct benefits from a gross paycheck every Friday. You will not have to invest in a company health insurance plan or contribute to employee benefits.

You don't need to keep personnel files. You must have a comprehensive agreement between yourself and any contractor you hire to do work though. The duties required and the pay rate agreed upon have to be included in the contract.

You don't need to go through the hassle of contacting a temporary agency and filling out all their paperwork. There will be no temp agency fees involved. Working with an agency would probably require you to accept someone on a regular part time basis, at least. That may not be what you need in the beginning. You are more likely to need someone who will be available as you need them or on a job by job basis.

You won't have to spend your time training someone. Hopefully the individual you hire has the kind of skills you require. If it turns out that the individual was less than truthful about her abilities, it will be easier to terminate the relationship than if you had to fire an employee in person. You can usually do this through the service rather than dealing with the person yourself.
