C-arm is a device that is used in different surgical procedures in health centers. As the name suggests, c arm x ray machine has a C-shaped arm which is attached to it. The purpose of the arm is to join the x- ray source and the x-ray detector. Therefore, the generated x-rays usually travel to the arm detector through the C-shaped arm.

The original models of these devices were large in size and had a lower level of efficiency. That has however changed in modern devices that occupy less space and are much more efficient. The high level of efficiency comes from improvement in the software used in modern products. Also, there has been a lot of advancement in detector technology, which has occurred within the last few decades.

Fixed systems are more liked than mobile c-arms in hybrid operating rooms. The reason is that they do not need time for cooling and one can use them for longer periods. Normally, fixed systems use liquid cooling systems to avoid issues to do with overheating. Liquid cooling has the advantage. The benefit is that the system can be used for longer periods before they are allowed to cool down.

The images produced by the current versions are not distorted because they use the flat-panel technology. The images are also of more than 16,000 different shades of gray. They give a resolution of beyond 1500 by 1500 pixels. In addition, the machine does not get affected by magnetic fields and in turn, the images produced do not also get destroyed by the fields. With this being the case, one can place the device near a magnetic resonance (MR) scanner and not have any kind of problem.

Production of images with a much larger field of view is the other benefit that comes with flat-panel technology. Flat-panel detectors can produce images with up to 60 percent more information than conventional image intensifiers. With this, physicians including surgeons have more details to operate with. Therefore, surgical procedures are greatly improved in terms of the accuracy.

C-arms are designed to work with patient tables that are designed for x-ray imaging. Tables are designed so that the imagine device can fit correctly around the body of the patient. In some cases, some tables are designed to allow some movement to allow for better positioning of the machine around the patient. This allows for better images to be taken.

One can take images from diverse angles using c-arms. With, that, more information can be recorded. As a result, more accuracy is achieved during the procedure. In other instances, tables are designed to be translucent. This is meant to avoid any form of interference with the imaging process. Besides being strong, carbon fiber is lightweight and therefore it is greatly used in this application.

Finally, access to the services provided using c-arm x ray imaging machines are more accessible these days. This is because of improvements in technology that now allow for production of imaging equipment at lower prices. They are also easy to maintain and use.
