Being generous does not require you to be extremely rich. It requires recognition that the lives of people around you can be changed by your simple acts. From religious books, there is evidence of people who have been generous in circumstances that many would have opted to withhold their offering. Facilitating generosity requires a combination of personal sacrifice and understanding the impact of your action.

To be a generous person, you need to focus on the benefits that will arise from your actions. These benefits will be towards you and people who are recipients of your spirit of giving. You feel personal satisfaction for impacting the life of people around you. This leaves you healthier and happier. For the recipient, it will be a chance to live a life beyond what his abilities would have enabled him.

Embrace the feeling of gratitude. This could be done by looking at the things that you are grateful about in your life. The list does not have to be of physical possessions. It could involve such elements as good health, friends, daily bread and opportunities in life. You will be awake to the favors that life has denied other people.

Start small, at your level. Most people think that giving is for those with plenty of resources. They also think that you must give a lot for you to be considered as generous. Some of the instances require very little in terms of contribution. Such small gifts will change the life of recipients. Your small contribution is all some people need to change their lives forever.

Look for a course that you believe in. It is natural not to believe in some of the courses you are invited to contribute to. However, around you is a need that you can clearly see. Begin with that and do not feel guilty about a course that is away from you or one you cannot identify with. This gives you a chance to change the lives of those around you with a sense of satisfaction.

Share your time with the needy. Because of a privileged past, it is easy to assume that everyone else is as privileged as you are. In fact, you might think that the predicaments are self inflicted. When you spend time with them, you know their real stories and struggles. This ignites your spirit of generosity.

Beyond visiting the needy, share in the lives of the generous persons. This will open your eyes to see the impact of giving. Generous people live an extremely rewarding and satisfying life despite offering their resources to people. Their quality of life is never affected by what they give. The lives of people around the generous change as their own become more graceful.

Being generous demands that you desire to change the lives of people around you. The help needy persons around you need is little and sometimes negligible. When you give, there is little or no impact on your fortunes. By looking at the lives of the generous in your circles, you realize the impact that small acts can have on the life of a person. Your mentality and approach to giving will change forever.
