Everyone needs a private space just for themselves, and though we might like to call it a man cave, they are not just a man thing. Even so, men love for their private space to be totally separate from the house. They can have just such a place these days whether they call it their hunt shack or ice fishing houses.

Trying to catch fish has been a traditionally male pastime, although plenty of women and girls are getting into the sport. In the extreme climates of Canada, Alaska, and Russia, catching a fish requires that men are protected from the elements. When a human body can freeze in mere minutes, none of us are inclined to spend even an hour without proper shelter.

The mobile nature of such structures has created an obvious opportunity for those who design recreational vehicles or campers. A pop-up camper is just as light as the old shack, but there is an extraordinary increase in the durability of a camper. Moving a shack does damage to the shack, but a camper is made to be moved and designed to be adequate to the needs of those who use it.

Creating a porthole through a camper floor is now a possible upgrade, and done right it will seal tightly when closed and disappear into the floor. Now the man shack has space to prep and cool their catch. In fact, it could have a functional kitchen, toilet amenities, and a sleeping area.

Modern gadgets can even read the thickness of the floor, and keep tabs on it throughout the day. Anyone experienced in this sport has heard the stories, if not been there when the floor beneath gives way and everyone has to escape with all they can grab and carry. Now we can keep tabs on the stability of the floor beneath, making it a safer trip for everyone.

For those particularly prone to challenge fate, a mobile man shack might not be in their best interests. However, an easily erected and durably constructed tent can provide just enough protection while still allowing for a quick get away from disaster. In fact, one just might create a tent that is more of a bubble, and acts as a floating device in an emergency.

In the past one would see men engaged in this sport hunching down or walking in nervous spurts. They did this in order to stay warm, but these days there is a better way to combine comfort and reasonable warmth with the sport. It is even possible that one could be viewing their favorite television shows while resting warmly, and fish a frozen lake.

You have been taken on only a small tour of the modern touches being made in the creation of the man cave. There are a million ways that an old-fashioned RV can be modified and improved. The man cave can even invite his entire family on an adventure so no one is ever left out, but none have to feel left out in the cold either.
