A lot of people when moving overseas may decide to take the contents of their house with them to their new home. In some cases, your items can be shipped by road and sea and this is the preferred option for many people. In other instances, if you are moving abroad, you may need to search for a company to airfreight household goods from US and there are a couple of important things to consider.

Initially, you will need to decide which of your household items you are going take, and which ones to leave. When you have sorted out your items you will need to get the measurements, weights and work out the replacement value for the insurance. You will then need to get in touch with a shipping company and begin to make the arrangements.

When you call the shipping contractors, they will make a detailed list of what you plan to send and where it will be going. You should always call a few different companies to get their prices so that you get the best deal. When you have made your decision on a company, they will issue you with packing crates or boxes and give you a convenient date for collection of your items.

Packing household items is a time consuming job and some care is needed to ensure that everything is securely packed and labeled for the air journey. As you pack each individual piece it is a good idea to tick them off a list so that you do not leave anything behind. When you have done your packing you should put an address label on each box and also note the contents.

On the collection day, the company will send one of their drivers to collect your boxes and crates. When they have been collected, they are put into storage until they have to be taken and loaded onto an aircraft. On the flight day they will be driven to the airport before being loaded and taken to the destination country.

When your items arrive at the other end they are usually unloaded within a few hours and picked up by a courier. Two options are then available, and your items can be stored until you collect them or they are delivered your new address. It is essential to ensure that someone is at the property to accept the delivery and check everything when it arrives.

The costs of air freighting your possessions will depend on a few things. The number of packages, the total weight and the destination will all influence what you pay. If your items will be spending some time in a storage facility, the costs will increase due to warehousing fees being added to your bill.

When you have things shipped, it is advisable to make certain that they are insured in case they are lost or damaged. Most freight companies will have adequate insurance which will be enough to cover your goods. If any of your possessions are valuable, it is highly recommended that you have them insured separately.
