Designate an entire room for that and do not let anybody into the fire exit hallway unless there is already a need to use the feature.

Be in constant communication with your electrician. Talk about the updates which can still be done in your system. In that way, you can monitor everything electronically and you would be the first person to be notified in case of a smoke or fire.
