Test scores make or break one's changes of getting into the college of their choice. Undergoing a good SAT/ACT test prep will boost the odds for success. It pays to follow suggestions and a study regime. Admissions officers look at the scores in conjunction with grades to determine a candidate's viability. They usually have a minimal score in mind. Thus, it is well worth the effort to prepare well in advance. There is nothing quite like old fashioned studying to do the job right.

School admissions offices are strict about candidates meeting their minimal requirements for these tests. You have to come up to their standards. Scores go hand in hand with grades in determining who gets in and who does not. Starting well ahead is the key to positive results. Setting up a regular routine will keep you on track and in the know. You can supplement your studies with Internet research, but there really is no substitute for the old fashioned method.

Six to eight weeks before the exam, you should have acquired and assembled your study materials. You can order them online or borrow from a friend who has already passed the tests. Adopting the right mental set is the next phase of the on-going process. Now you are ready to begin.

Make sure you know the test. Take time to brush up on basic Algebra and English grammar. Take mock tests. Mock tests help you get familiar with the format and work through any testing anxiety you may have. Try to take as many mock tests as possible. You'll want to start taking them at least ten days before your exam date. This will help you to improve your scores.

Prepping is like role playing the actual exam. You will alleviate stress the more you take the mock tests not to mention improving your score. It is amazing how much difference it makes. Manage your time ten days before the SAT and ACT exams so you can squeeze in as much study as possible, particularly in your weaker areas.

Take the mock tests until you master them, especially right before the final day. You will have a good assessment of just where you stand. Your confidence will grow as you see your scores improve. Also right before the big day you should get plenty of rest.

If you do this homework and don't guess what is on the SATS or the ACTS, you will be better prepared and optimize your outcome. Every wrong answer of course lowers your score, a quarter of a point to be precise. There is an art to test taking that includes eliminating the obvious wrong choices and narrowing down the possibilities. Leave questions you do not know unanswered.

Success with the SATs and the ACTs comes from the advanced prep work undertaken weeks before. It is never good to guess at questions you don't know hoping to be right. You will have points deducted. Studying will give you that edge in knowing exactly the best answer in a short period of time. Feel secure in your abilities as you go through the test at an even pace. Don't panic. Stay focused and alert and let the pressure pass you by. In the long run, you will be fine and achieve your goal.
