As long as most of us can remember, car salesmen have a reputation for being slick and dishonest. Such movies as Used Cars, and The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, give the impression that the only way to sell a car is to use trickery or some form of deceptiveness. Of course any car dealerships have done little to counter that perception. For a long time, car salesmen have been earning their bread by how many cars they sale. Thus a sale is critical for making a living.

That is why many buyers are wary when entering a car dealership. The idea was, was looking for a car, especially a used one, you had to know your stuff and make sure the person you're working with has your best interest at heart.

While it's true that most car salesman are not that way, enough are to make most people looking for a car to be wary. There are several types of sales people ranging from smooth operators to straight to the point type of salesmen. There are others that don't tell if not asked. Also, there are women car salesmen alongside men. How do female car salesman survive in this environment.

Most women hate the whole process of buying a car. If salesperson is a woman, they are less likely to be apprehensive. A woman would understand what the another woman's desires.

In addition to this, women tend to exhibit a softer tendency of approach. That tends to draw people in rather than send them off running. And in many cases, this is led to far more sales to women. Women have the ability to listen better as they also want to be heard. This is the reason women prefer dealing with their counterparts.

Another consideration is the put down most women feel when the male salesman says "shouldn't your husband me with you?" With women salesman, you're not going to get that. They presume that you are aware of what you want when you come to the car yard. Additionally, these women have been through this and understand what you are going through.

Women trust other women. They feel that they understand them much better. Empathy is one thing that is very significant when it comes to sales. Sales is really about emotion. Women know how to use emotion much better than men.

Men don't seem to mind talking to a woman. The thought process is that she can't know more than them, therefore they feel less threatened by a woman. This comes to an advantage to women salesmen who just want to earn a real payday and do a good job.
